Teaching
I love working with kids and getting to do that in a theatre setting has been a massive blessing over the past few years. Here are some of the classes and programs I've taught recently.
Middle School Musical theatre
At the Apex Arts program at Bates Middle School in Annapolis, MD (through Compass Rose Theater) I taught a semester-long middle school musical theatre course. The students were paired up into small groups of 2 - 5 and learned music and blocking for songs from musicals such as Shrek, Cinderella, & The Little Mermaid. We worked on acting and vocal technique throughout this process.
High School Acting
At Covenant Life School in Gaithersburg, MD I taught a high school semester-long acting course. The students got the chance to learn about the Laban Efforts and Script Analysis, and we finished out the semester learning and performing scenes from Radium Girls by D. W. Gregory.
Private Voice & Acting
Through Adventure Theatre MTC in Glen Echo, MD I taught private voice and acting training at the 5th grade level. A student would get the opportunity to choose and learn a song that fit their vocal range and ability. We would work through relevant warm ups, technique, and vocal theory while unpacking the piece.
Movement Camp
I taught a one-week Movement Camp at TAC at the Lake Theatre in Liberty Lake, WA. The camp was centered around the Laban Efforts and Tempo/Rhythm Exercises. I taught children ages 10-13 and the week culminated in a short, movement-based performance.
three musketeers
I got the chance to direct Three Musketeers for the 5th Grade class of Bradley Hills Elementary in Bethesda, MD through Adventure Theatre MTC. I spent 3 months with the students, learning blocking, lines, and acting basics. The program culminated in 3 performances for the full school, family, and friends.
